Kevin Lord, Owner
Kevin Lord didn't set out to build one of Maine's most respected custom home companies. He set out to do good work.
He spent his early years as a finish carpenter in Western Massachusetts, developing a standard of craft that most builders never develop and few clients ever forget. It was that standard that caught the attention of a client who saw something different in Kevin's work and made him an offer: come to Maine and build something together.
It took Kevin some time to make the decision. But on Christmas Eve, he packed up his life, got in his car, and drove north to start over.
What followed was years of high end remodels that built a quiet but unmistakable reputation along the coast. The kind of reputation that spreads through architects, designers, and homeowners who notice the difference between work that looks good and work that is good. Clients kept asking if they could build new homes. Eventually, Kevin listened.
Thomas & Lord has been building fully custom homes since 2003. Kevin remains hands on in every project, which is exactly why we limit ourselves to four to eight homes a year. Not as a marketing position. Because it's the only way to build the way we build.
Twenty three years in, the standard hasn't changed. Only the homes have gotten better.
